READ THIS WARNING if you have iTunes, iPhone, iPad or Apple Computers

READ THIS WARNING if you have iTunes, iPhone, iPad or Apple Computers

Beware all Apple iPhone, iPad And Computer users or anybody with an iTunes account with an AppleID.  There is a new Scam To Steal Your Apple ID Identity And Apple Account, share it with all your iPhone, iPad or Apple Computer users or anybody with an iTunes Account that has an AppleID

This is not a joke and not a hoax, as clicking on the link in the original email (its a picture of the email below) will result in you giving your Apple ID and Password to thieves.  As you can see in the screen snapshot below, the return email address is not an Apple address.

This is by way of an #insurance #warning, the online thieves and con artists have decide to target Apple Tech Users.  Generally as Apple Users we don't get many of these as most Apple Techies have a #degree or are #Computer #science #graduates wouldn't dream of scamming other Apple Users but not these scum.

I received this by email.

It states its from Apple ID Services informing me that there are issues with my account and informing me I should use the link provided to securely Update my Account.  Now I'm no idiot as those you watch my fixed1t youtube videos will attest, but in a hurry you could accidentally push it.

If you get one of these Bin It and Empty The Bin.

Please share this with every iPhone, iPad or Mac Computer user you know or anybody with an Apple iTunes account with an AppleID so you and they are forewarned.

Save Money On Garden Trimmer Strimmer Line String Or Cord

Its time to get the garden trimmer (in the UK we call them Strimmers) out again as the spring arrives.  Time to look to see how much line cord you have and to feed it in.  But here is an Amazing Money Saving tip I use every time.  These machines are made to automatically feed the line cord out when it gets caught up or jammed.  The idea it to save you time.

However, its extremely wasteful of line cord and isn't good at cutting through thick grass or weeds.  Using this simple tip your line cord use will be minimal and the cutting power will be vastly improved.

Please Don't ignore this tip, at least try it once and you won't be disappointed.

Your Gadgets And Toys Are Being Destroyed By Their Batteries

Sadly, I've just found that I have badly damaged a Classic High Value Wowwee Robotics RS Media Robot by accidentally leaving a set of Zinc Carbon Acid Batteries in it.

WARNING Battery Corrosion Damage In Robosapien RS Media Robot

After discovering the damage one set of batteries had done, I set about opening every battery powered devices I could find, below is a picture of the large bag of dead and leaking batteries I have put out for recycling.  As you can see some are cheap carbon acid batteries whilst others or apparently Alkaline batteries.

THINK!  When Was The Last Time You Checked The Batteries In Your Gadgets, Toys or Remote Controls.

If its more than a few weeks, you need to check them again.

Cheap ZINC Carbon Batteries inherently leaky

Cheap Zinc Carbon Battery Leakage

Leakage is the main issue. The zinc case corrodes as part of normal operation, and if it corrodes through in one spot, corrosive leakage occurs. This is a good reason not to use these batteries in high value electronic goods.
Remove batteries if they will not be used for a fair length of time. Running them 100% flat increases the chance of leakage.
Metal damaged by corrosion, such as battery contacts, can be scraped to remove most of the corrosion. This usualy makes the appliance work again, but corroded circuit board tracks are usually corroded completely through by leakage, killing the appliance. Repair of corroded circuit board requires scraping, washing and soldering wires on to replace the lost tracks.
Zinc carbon batteries frequently have a clear plastic film wrap applied to help contain some leaks, don't remove it.
If a lumpy surface is seen under the plastic film, the zinc case has almost corroded through and is about to leak, and the battery should be disposed of.
One way to avoid damage from leakage and thus enable use of low cost batteries is to use an external battery holder, plugging it into the appliance. This works well enough with 9v types, which use a snap on genderless connector.
